Apostle Michael L. Shelby is a man full of the Holy Spirit, faith and wisdom.  He has a heart that reaches beyond barriers of race, color, creed or religion.  Apostle Shelby has been a faithful servant of the Lord since 1966.  In 1979, he assumed his first pastorate at Greater Grace Apostolic Church in Muncie, Indiana for 11 years.  In April 1990, the Lord moved Bishop Shelby to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be the pastor of God’s House Church, where he is currently celebrating 25 years of faithful service.

 

God’s House Church is a multi-ethnic congregation that has grown by leaps and bounds, and has become a voice in the community and the state of New Mexico.  Through the vision of the Lord, God used Apostle Shelby to move the church to a new location in January 1997, with more than 66,000 square feet, a large sanctuary, fellowship hall, with numerous classrooms and a three story education wing. Apostle Shelby proclaimed “if it had not been for the Lord on our side, where would we be”.  He is the founder and President of the Word of Life Bible Institute, dedicated to empowering the leaders of today for the task of tomorrow. Apostle Shelby has used this edifice for the effecting of the community and the state of New Mexico, by utilizing the wing for community activities, such as continuing education, after-school programs, overcoming addictions and numerous social events within the community. 

Apostle Shelby was nominated by Governor Bill Richardson to be the Chairman of the Martin Luther King State Commission in 2003 and has continued to serve in that capacity under Governor Susana Martinez until this time.  He is the vice-president of the Ministerial Alliance of Albuquerque and Vicinity. He has been instrumental in bringing together executive leaders from the business, legal and faith-based arenas.

 

Apostle Shelby is a model of commitment and dedication, a man lead and sent by God to be a Pastor’s Pastor.  In 1993 Apostle Shelby was appointed to the office of Suffragan-Bishop for the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW).  In April 2002 Apostle Shelby was consecrated to the office of Apostle. In May 2010 Apostle Shelby was appointed to the office of Assistant Presiding Prelate of New Destiny Fellowship International, where he oversees churches nationally and internationally, imparting spiritual wisdom, leadership, relationship building and church structure.

 

He has traveled across the world, preaching, lecturing, teaching, encouraging and strengthening the faith of people across the globe from Albuquerque to Africa.  Apostle Shelby has made regular appearances on and has hosted the Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN), with millions of viewers hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ

 

Recognize for his hard work, faith and commitment to the gospel, Aenon Bible College awarded Apostle Shelby with an Honorary Doctorate.  Among his many distinguished accomplishments, he is so proud that the love of his life and best friend, First Lady Charlotte Shelby has agreed to a renewal of their wedding vowels on June 19, 2015 in celebration of 50 years of marriage.  To this union they have three children Damon, Darin and Delisa and seven grandchildren.
